Here’s How Bees Are Being Used to Detect Bombs

Bomb-sniffing dogs were a little too cumbersome, I guess.

Bees are talented animals. They produce honey, they pollinate, they sting you (no one is perfect). They also, as scientists are learning, have finely tuned senses of smell — so finely tuned, in fact, that their sense of smell can be used to detect bombs.

This clip, which is taken from a longer program, shows how it works. Now, will this actually be useful on the battlefield? Only time will tell (probably not).
